The unofficial end to summer should be downright gorgeous, albeit fairly hot and humid at times.

After a pretty pitch perfect Friday to start the long holiday weekend, Saturday follows suit with sunny skies and temperatures expected to reach around 80.

Things will stay cool early in the day before rising slightly in the afternoon. The night caps off with some clouds, then the humidity comes to town.

The tri-state will start to feel the heat on Sunday, when the humidity cranks up and feels-like temperatures cross over 90 degrees by the afternoon.

This trend continues and come Monday, temperatures could reach 90 degrees -- the perfect beach day to cap off the unofficial end of summer. The only threat to a perfect beach day: rip currents.

Beaches along the Jersey Shore once again have a high risk of rip currents on Saturday, whereas the risk on Long Island looks to be more moderate. Both stretches of waterfront should look better by Sunday.

However, this humidity will stay in the area for the first few days next week -- meaning it will be a hot and humid start of the school year for many students.

NYC still has not recorded a heat wave this year (three straight days of 90 or above temperatures), but there is a real shot in the days ahead with five days eyeing temps close to 90 degrees.

A quick cooldown is expected by the end of next week, along with the next chance of showers.
