There may be more rain for yet another weekend, but at least it won't be a total washout.
That's about the best we've been able to hope for, as it seems to have rained almost every weekend in the tri-state as of late (this weekend will be the sixth straight weekend with rainfall at Central Park). And while the forecast has improved, the next round of rain will dampen chances of enjoying outdoor fall plans.
A stretch of nasty weather has already drenched the region during the first few weekends of the season, and this weekend will be no different. So when exactly does the rain return?

The fall temps have really settled into the area, delivering a sunny fall end to the work week. Clouds will increase on Friday and it will be noticeably cooler, but it should remain dry.

Then we get to Saturday, when things turn for the worse as the streak of bad weekend luck continues.
After a dry start Saturday, rain moves in during the afternoon, though timing of arrival isn't totally clear yet. The rain will last through the evening, though it won't be quite as heavy as was previously thought and won't lead to a high-impact event.
The periods of rain look to bring an inch or less of rainfall to much of the tri-state by the start of next week, though some areas on eastern Long Island and down the Jersey Shore could see up to two inches. Flooding concerns have eased a bit as high-end totals are looking lower.
Some light showers could linger through Sunday morning, but will slowly taper off and clear out in the afternoon. Temperatures stay cool, with a gusty and chilly wind keeping highs in the 50s.
Once things dry out, they sure get chilly. Expect next week's temps to be stuck in the 50s — nearly 10 degrees below average — until at least Thursday. And there's another low pressure system swinging through the tri-state on Tuesday, which will bring more showers to the area.
