A fire broke out on the rooftop of a Manhattan building, the FDNY said, sending smoke into the sky that was visible from across New York City.

Detectives are still working on the details of what went down at the corner of Greene Street and Grand Street around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday in SoHo. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 31-year-old victim on the ground before he was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved. NBC New York’s Gaby Acevedo reports.

A second teenager has been arrested in the shooting death of a 16-year-old in a quiet Manhattan neighborhood, police said.

In the latest incident on a downtown No. 1 train in Manhattan, the suspect allegedly threw a flaming liquid at a man, leaving him with burns covering his upper body. The same man was wanted in connection to another fire-throwing incident at a SoHo subway station in February. NBC New York’s Jessica Cunnington reports.

A man who allegedly set a fellow New York City subway rider on fire using a flaming liquid was arrested, and police believe he is also behind an arson at a different Manhattan station earlier in the year.

In Manhattan, a subway rider was set on fire after a suspect hurled some type of flammable substance at him. 

A 19-year-old was charged with murder in the shooting death of a teenage boy in a typically quiet Manhattan neighborhood, according to police.
