Amid heightened security ahead of the New York City marathon this weekend, a fake or hoax suspicious device found in Central Park near the finish line led to a large police response Friday morning.

Tens of thousands of marathon runners will be back on the streets of New York City this weekend, marking the return of what’s considered to be the world’s largest 26.2-mile race.

A week from Sunday, tens of thousands of runners will take to the streets of the five boroughs to compete in the New York City Marathon. For two of those runners, the 26.2 miles will help highlight another challenge. NBC New York’s Ida Siegal reports.
