A midtown advocacy group has grand plans the reimagine Penn Station and the surrounding area to bring back the grandeur it once enjoyed 60 years ago. The group said their plans are cheaper than what the city is planning. NBC New York’s Andrew Siff reports.

The team spent three years developing the plan for a new Penn Station with a major focus: moving Madison Square Garden one block east, from Eighth Avenue to Seventh Avenue.

Rail service in and out of New York’s Penn Station was delayed up to an hour ahead of the evening commute after am Amtrak train had a derailment while leaving the busy transit hub, according to officials.

NJ Transit said rail service in and out of the Manhattan hub was suspended just before 7 p.m. “due to Amtrak overhead wire issues” in a Hudson River tunnel.
