NYPD Welcomes 4-Legged Grads to Its Elite Canine Team

After a long selection process and intense training, the NYPD Emergency Service Unit graduated 12 handlers and 12 police dogs into its elite canine team. The handlers and dogs will serve on the front lines of the department’s fight against crime and terrorism. Each dog graduated with a new name that honors a fallen NYPD officer killed in the line of duty. Family members of the fallen officers were present for the ceremony.
