Emmy Award-winning reporter Michael George appears on NBC 4 New York’s weekday newscasts at 5 PM., 6 PM. and 11 PM.

During his time at NBC 4 New York, George has covered many of the region’s most memorable news stories, including Pope Francis' historic 2015 visit and the Black Lives Matter protests.  He also covered many of the key events of the 2016 election, including the Presidential Debate at Hofstra University and election night at President-Elect Trump’s headquarters at the New York Hilton. In recognition of George’s commitment to journalistic excellence, he has been awarded two New York Emmys® in conjunction with NBC 4 New York’s coverage of the 2017 Bronx Lebanon Hospital shooting.

George joined NBC 4 New York in 2013 following three years as an investigative reporter with ABC affiliate WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida.  During his time in Tampa, George was recognized with two Suncoast Emmy Awards for investigative and education reporting.   

Prior to his arrival in Tampa, George reported for NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee where he covered a number of national stories, including the funeral of former President Gerald Ford and 2012 Olympic bid.  He began his career as a political reporter with NBC affiliate KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota. 

The proud son of immigrants, George is a native of Palm Springs, California and a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.  He is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  He resides in Manhattan.
