The quarterfinals of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff will wrap up Thursday with a Sugar Bowl showdown between the No. 2-seeded Georgia Bulldogs and No. 7-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The game was postponed from Wednesday following a deadly attack in New Orleans.
The quarterfinal round of the CFP began with the No. 6-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions earning a 31-14 win over the No. 3-seeded Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl. Then, the No. 5-seeded Texas Longhorns outlasted the No. 4-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils 39-31 in a double-overtime Peach Bowl thriller. And the No. 8-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes ended the No. 1-seeded Oregon Ducks' perfect season with a 41-21 Rose Bowl rout.
