Overall crime in New Jersey decreased in 2024, state data shows

As New Jersey starts preparing to host games for the FIFA World Cup in 2026, Gov. Phil Murphy is praising the state’s drop in crime. The governor said that not only was there an overall decrease in crime in 2024, but for the first time, New Jersey had fewer than 1,000 shooting victims. NBC New York’s Adam Harding reports.
