Justin Bieber Posts Photo of “Batman vs Superman” Script

Justin Bieber had social networking platforms in an uproar once again Friday when he posted a picture of himself and what looks like the script for the highly-anticipated "Man of Steel 2" sequel to his Instagram account.

If that wasn't enough to have fanboys up in arms (remember the Ben Affleck as Batman casting news?), the "Boyfriend" singer accompanied the post with "#Robin".

While some fans expressed pleasure at the idea of Bieber as the Boy Wonder ("omg omg omg omg, SOS PLEASEEEEEEEE," commented brandalandazuri under the Instagram posting), others expressed outrage via Twitter.

"God, please let it be a hoax," tweeted @KoderKev, while @walter_foreman wrote: "As if there weren't already enuff reasons to hate Superman."

The superhero flick will definitely see Affleck take on the role of the caped crusader and Henry Cavill return as Superman. Directed by Zack Snyder, the as yet untitled movie is set to hit theaters in July 2015.

Whether Bieber joins the ranks of actors who have portrayed Batman's sidekick Dick Grayson remains to be seen. Actor Burt Ward played the role on the campy 1960s TV series before Chris O'Donnell donned the form-fitting suit in the 1997 movie "Batman & Robin."

Lending credibility to the notion that the whole thing is a hoax, eagle-eyed Twitter followers were quick to point out that only a few hours before the Instagram posting, Bieber cryptically tweeted that he was going to particpate in something for Funny or Die:

Also throwing water on the fiery casting news is that the script featured in Bieber's post claims to be based on "Batman: The Dark Knight Falls" — the fourth issue of Frank Miller's 1986 classic "The Dark Knight Returns" comic book series. At Comic-Con, Snyder said they were not adapting "The Dark Knight Returns," which features an older Batman and Superman.
