John Mayer has become the latest celebrity to pull the plug on Twitter.
The “Waiting on the World to Change” singer reportedly bailed on his 3.7 million online followers Sunday after posting one final message on the microblogging service: “What does this button do?”
A rep for Mayer said in an e-mailed statement to The Associated Press that the musician's decision coincided with the end of his Battle Studies Tour and “a return to the studio planned.”
Mayer has toyed with exiting Twitter before, calling the service “inherently silly” last year, according to E! News.
In February, Mayer went on a temporary hiatus from posting on the site, amid fallout over his controversial racial comments in a Playboy interview.
With his exit Mayer joins fellow celebrity Twitter apostates Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Amanda Bynes, according to E! News.
Mayer will continue to touch base online with fans on his blog, his rep said.
