Police are investigating after a 13-year-old was shot in New Haven early Sunday morning.
It happened shortly before 3 when two cars were chasing after each other and someone from one of the cars fired shots at the other in the area of Davenport Avenue, hitting a 13-year-old passenger.
New Haven Police say the teen was dropped at the Yale pediatric hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
When police arrived to the area, officers said they found four fired cartridge casings.
“We will not accept that a thirteen-year-old was shot in our city," New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said.
Detectives reviewed video surveillance of the incident. Investigators said a silver Kia SUV and a black Hyundai Elantra appeared to be involved.
