Man stabbed at Lower East Side subway station in Manhattan

The man stabbed in a Lower East Side subway station Wednesday morning was 34-year-old Anthony Chávez, who spoke to NBC New York hours after he was attacked at the Delancey Street-Essex Street station. The victim said he was sleeping in the mezzanine area just before 5:30 a.m. when it happened, and isn’t sure why he was targeted.
