A woman lost her leg after she was struck and dragged about 20 feet by a cement truck in Manhattan Saturday morning, police said.
The truck hit the 63-year-old woman while she was crossing Second Avenue at 68th Street at around 10 a.m.
The driver, who later stayed on the scene, did not stop until bystanders flagged him down, because he didn't know he had hit the woman. Police said he had a valid license and was not intoxicated.
The woman was not crossing the avenue at the crosswalk, police said.
The woman's left leg was severed below the knee and she was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, according to officials.
Another pedestrian was struck and killed in Queens Saturday, police said.
Angela Hurtado, 68, was hit and killed while crossing Grand Avenue in Elmhurst by a driver who was turning onto the avenue.
The driver in that accident also stayed on the scene and has been taken into custody, police said.
