A woman was found dead in a bathroom of a Manhattan apartment after her kitchen somehow went up in flames on Monday, police sources say.
The woman was badly burned from an accidental fire that started in the kitchen of her Koreatown apartment, sources said. She then ran to the bathroom, where officials found her dead with burns to her stomach.
Just after 3 p.m., authorities found the 34-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive in the bathroom, police said. Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the woman dead, according to officials.
It wasn’t immediately clear what started the blaze.
Police are investigating and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
