Freeskiier Eileen Gu was born in San Francisco but represents China when competing internationally. Here’s five things to know about the freeskiing star.

American-born Eileen Gu earned the first of what she and her many fans in Beijing hope could be three medals for China last week by cranking out the first 1620 of her career in the Olympic debut of women's freestyle skiing big air.

She followed that up with a silver medal in the slopestyle final, her second medal in these Games. Now, the 18-year-old is searching for her third Olympic medal in the halfpipe event.

Hitting nearly 14 feet on her opening rightside 900 cork Buick grab, China's Eileen Gu upped her score in the halfpipe final by adding back-to-back alley-oop flat spins at the end of Run 2 to score a 95.25.

Eileen Gu threw back-to-back 900s in both directions to start her first run of the halfpipe final, then kept the rest of her routine relatively mellow, scoring a 93.25 to take over first by four points.

U.S.-born Eileen Gu of China had trouble 630'ing out off a rail on Run 1, then cleaned up with a switch 900, cab 720 and 900 Buick in Run 2, receiving her score of 79.38 while eating lunch to make the slopestyle final.
