A tractor-trailer carrying baby diapers became engulfed in flames on busy Interstate 78 in New Jersey Monday afternoon, creating a rush-hour mess for evening commuters.
The fire broke out at about 2:30 on I-78 westbound, just before exit 12 in Union Township, authorities said. It's not clear what started the fire, but the cab of the truck was fully involved in flames.
The westbound lanes were closed for over an hour. By the evening rush, only one lane was getting by, creating delays stretching 12 miles on I-78 as well as heavy traffic on alternate routes.
