Firefighters were battling a fire at the construction site of a marine transfer station on the Upper East Side Sunday afternoon, the FDNY said.

Video from a nearby building shows flames at the site near East 91st Street and the FDR Drive shortly before 3 p.m.

A number of tower ladders were at the scene as smoke rose over the FDR Drive and surrounding streets.

A witness said the fire appeared to be under control around 3:15, but that a bike path leading by the construction site was closed.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The transfer station has been controversial with Upper East Side residents, who have been concerned about increased traffic congestion and pollution from garbage trucks.
