Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes Taconic State Parkway

The Taconic State Parkway in Putnam County was closed in both directions because of a tractor-trailer accident.

A state police dispatcher said the truck was southbound about 5 a.m. Monday when it hit an overpass at Route 301 in the town of Putnam Valley, 45 miles north of New York City.

The truck jackknifed, spilling debris across both sides of the parkway, police said.

There are no reports of injuries.

The Thruway Authority said nearby Exit 16 on Interstate 84 where it meets the Taconic was also closed briefly. The parkway was closed for several hours.

Trucks aren't permitted on the parkway and police are investigating.
