Husband Dead, Newlywed Wife and 2 Others Hurt After Car, Suffolk Transit Bus Crash Head-On on Long Island

A Brooklyn man is dead and at least three others, including his newlywed wife, were hurt when a bus crashed head-on with a car on Long Island Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities and published reports.

The Suffolk Transit bus was heading east on New York Route 25 when it smashed head-on with a car that had swerved into the bus’s lane, authorities say.

The man driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities say. The man’s wife, who was sitting in the passenger’s seat, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver hurt his leg and was taken to the hospital. Of the five passengers aboard the bus, only one had minor injuries.

It’s not clear what caused the car to swerve into oncoming traffic.

The Daily News reports the couple were honeymooning after their wedding on Sunday. The husband, 42-year-old Jeremiah Grunblatt, was a craftsman, and the wife, 39-year-old Keturah Grunblatt, is an opera director and choreographer, the paper reports. They lived in Clinton Hill.
