A 93-year-old woman died in a fire at her home on Long Island Thursday evening, Suffolk County police say.
Firefighters found Alice Woods’ body near her bedroom doorway on the second floor of her home on Grover Lane in East Northport shortly before 9:30 p.m., police say. She was the only person in the smoky home when emergency responders arrived.
Police think the blaze broke out in Woods’ bedroom.
Arson squad investigators are looking into what caused the fire, but foul play is not suspected.
