A woman riding a subway escalator in Manhattan was taken to the hospital with injuries after her hair got caught in the machinery Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The 32-year-old woman, who had a medical condition, passed out on the escalator at the subway station at 125th Street and Broadway at about 3:30 p.m., the MTA said. Her hair got caught in a moving step, and the escalator continued to drag her body up.
A police officer rushed to turn the machine off as emergency medical technicians worked to free the woman.
The woman was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with cuts and bruises.
The escalator at the subway station will remain closed until Friday.
