Boy, 6, From Kosovo Reunites With Students, Doctors Who Saved Him
Just weeks ago 6-year-old Erblin Sllaminku was a different little boy: a congenital heart defect had sapped his energy, his appetite, his smile. In their native Kosovo, his father feared his son would soon die. But a group of aspiring medical students from St. Anthony’s High School raised thousands of dollars with help from Gift of Life to bring the boy to Long Island and get him the relatively simple surgery that would save his life. On Wednesday, he got to meet the students and doctors who helped him — and he was all smiles. John Chandler reports.
