Officials say a man is recovering after he was stung by a stingray at New Jersey's Island Beach State Park.
The Environmental Protection Department says the 22-year-old was stung at the southern end of the barrier island on Thursday.
DEP spokesman Lawrence Hajna told the Asbury Park Press the man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The incident happened one day after stingrays were sighted off nearby Seaside Heights.
The beach patrol said the stingrays were about 8-to-10 feet in size and about 200 to 300 feet off shore.
