A licensed therapist on Staten Island who was supposed to be helping children in his care is now accused of sexually molesting them, according to authorities.
Gilberto Suero, 49, groped and fondled three of his young female patients, even telling one, "You are so beautiful," according to a criminal complaint. One was 13 years old, and the other two were sisters, ages 8 and 10.
The incidents happened in late December and in April, according to the complaint.
Suero was arrested on charges including forcible touching, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child. Attorney information wasn't available.
No one was at his office Tuesday; a sign on the door said, "Mr. Suero, LCSW will not be in the office 5/6 - 5/13."
The alleged victims were clients of the Seamans Society Child Welfare Organization on Station Island; Suero didn't work directly for them, but was a referral.
"It's very upsetting for someone who wants to come somewhere and know their kids might be in there. They're supposed to be here to help children, not put them at harm," said Cassy Martinez, whose children see a different therapist through Seamans.
Seamans said it could not comment due to the ongoing investigation.
