A Staten Island man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was found guilty of murdering his pregnant girlfriend in 2017, prosecutors said.

Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon announced Friday that Keith Jackson was convicted of murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degrees for the fatal shooting of Bridget Shenk.

Jackson was found guilty Thursday after a two week jury trial.

He faces 25 years to life in prison when sentenced on March 27.

Prosecutors say that on Dec. 21, 2017, at around 5 a.m., inside a residence at Trantor Place, Jackson shot Bridget Shenk, 35, two times in the back. Shenk was three months pregnant.

"Because of his senseless act of violence, the victim’s family had their loved one needlessly torn from their lives forever,” McMahon said in a statement. “This conviction holds the defendant fully accountable for the life he took, and, I hope, provides closure to the victim’s family and friends."
