Elderly Man Found Dead in Staten Island Home After Firefighters Put Out Blaze

A man in his 80s died in a house fire on Staten Island Wednesday, officials said. 

It's not clear how the fire started inside the small house on Oakdale Street in Annadale. Firefighters were quickly able to get it under control, but inside, they found the body of an 86-year-old man.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not yet been released. 

A neighbor, Annette Ferraro, described the victim as a nice, quiet man whose daughter visited daily. 

No one else was injured and no nearby homes were damaged by the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
