A large brush fire is burning on Staten Island near the Goethals Bridge, the FDNY says.
It's not clear what started the three-alarm fire near Western and Gulf avenues in the Bloomfield section just before 7:30 p.m.
About 140 firefighters responded, and had some initial trouble getting water on the fire because of a lack of hydrants in the area, according to officials on the scene.
The blaze was expected to be under control by late Monday night. One firefighter had a minor injury.
No buildings are in the immediate vicinity of the fire, authorities say.
