Driver, 24, Killed in Head-On Crash on Southern State Parkway

State police say 24-year-old Travis Sloboda of West Islip was killed when his car was struck by a vehicle headed the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the parkway Tuesday in Islip Terrace. Greg Cergol reports.

One driver was killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision on the Southern State Parkway.

State police say 24-year-old Travis Sloboda, of West Islip, was killed when his car was struck by a vehicle headed the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the parkway at about 10 p.m. Tuesday near Exit 43A in Islip Terrace.

The other driver, 63-year-old Edward Ogden, of Bay Shore, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No charges were filed.

The investigation into the crash is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-756-3300.
