Southbound Traffic to Shift to North Lanes on Pulaski Skyway

The Pulaski Skyway will be closed in both directions this weekend while a new traffic pattern is created as part of rehabilitation work on the 84-year-old span.

Southbound traffic will be diverted to the newly completed northbound lanes beginning Monday.

The Transportation Department says the shift will take place before the Broadway ramp and continue to just before the bridge span over the Hackensack River where traffic will be shifted back to the southbound lanes. The second shift will move traffic from the southbound lanes back to the newly constructed northbound lanes just past the Passaic River span through the end of the Skyway onto Routes 1 and 9 south.

The DOT says the $1 billion project will extend the life of the bridge by 75 years.
