Smoke filled Penn Station at the outset of the evening rush Tuesday after someone accidentally lit a flare inside an office at the terminal.
Photos and video posted to social media showed thick white smoke filling the concourse of Penn Station.
A spokesman for Amtrak said the smoke was the result of an "accidental lighting of a flare inside an office."
No one was hurt and there was no impact on train operations, he said.
