A sinkhole has opened up on the same Upper West Side block for the second time in less than a month.
Firefighters were called to West 82nd Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West for the gaping 10-feet deep hole on the sidewalk where a tree was planted.
The leaning honey locust tree, measuring 10 inches in diameter, will be removed Saturday.
The DEP says a broken pipe from a private residence at 56 West 82nd St. may be to blame for the sinkhole. All customers in the area continue to have water, and streets are still open.
It's the same street where a large sinkhole opened up on Nov. 20.
