Score! Swap Meet Coming Back to Brooklyn Saturday

You know what's kinda lame about stores? The prices. They charge you for stuff even though it would way rad if they just gave their wares away. Well, this Saturday you can live in an alternate universe at the mega shopping and swapping event, Score! Pop Up Shop at Bushwick's 3rd Ward that recognizes that freeness is next to awesomeness.

It's essentially a huge swap meet where patrons lug their dusty vinyl, well-worn satchels, played-out baubles and more to exchange for shiny, new things that someone else has tired of. Once all the goods are sorted by a hot-shot team of volunteers, attendees can take as much new stuff as they like and anything left over will be donated to charity.

But unlike swap meets of, say, the Compton variety, Score! will be curated by a crew of professional cool kids. Nylon magazine Senior Editor Nisha Gopalan will lord over the clothes, the staff at DIY music bi-weekly Showpaper will handle the music, art collective The Lowbrow Arts Society will oversee art supplies, bibliophilic posse The Desk Set will sort out the books and housewares will be covered by Natalie Kamei.

The first Score! event in May drew over 1300 people and this event is beefed up with even more sweet amenities. There's free Colt 45 from 1 to 2pm, live screen-printing from the Bread and Butter Collective, mimosas and bloody mary cocktails, plus a nifty Score! mixtape and tote bag. The event isn't free but the measly $3 dollar cover and proceeds from the spiffy tote bag benefit City Harvest which has fed hungry people in NYC for over 25 years.  So this Saturday, New Yorkers have the rare opportunity to get tipsy, loot a warehouse full of stuff and help out thousands of hungry people all at once. Better score while you can.
