New York City Mayor Eric Adams was charged with five federal criminal counts including taking bribes, wire fraud and conspiracy to take illegal overseas campaign money. Feds allege Adams took more than $120,000 in gifts and upgrades in exchange for using his power to help Turkey. Adams has maintained his innocent, and his attorney says the business class trips simple upgrades to empty seats, and that any mistakes or wrongdoing about foreign money raised for his campaigns was at the hands of campaign staff. Eric Adams has been indicted on federal charges out of the Southern District of New York, making him the first sitting mayor of New York City to face criminal prosecution.

Adams has denied any wrongdoing on his part and any knowledge of wrongdoing regarding a series of probes surrounding his administration. He says the charges are based on lies and that he won't resign.

As part of the allegations, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York detailed the undisclosed travel benefits Adams accepted, which totaled more than $100,000.
