You may have woken up to heavy downpours outside, but don't call it a washout yet.
The heaviest rain has already pushed out of Manhattan and through Queens as of 8 a.m., as well as over the Jersey Shore, and although there are still a few hours of showers in store for Long Island, the sun is coming. Most of us will enjoy another hot and humid afternoon, with some of the hottest weather so far this year.
The beaches will still be a great place to beat the heat and humidity, with temperatures at the shore rising into the 80s, but for New York City and western suburbs, it will be uncomfortably hot, approaching 90 degrees in many spots.
The hottest Memorial Day on record was 92 degrees, back in 1942, and we should come close to that record.
There is just a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, and then tomorrow it will still be very warm, but much less humid as we head back to work.
