A NYPD detective has been arrested and charged after police say he was peering through bedroom windows with a flashlight and then exposing himself, with three of his alleged victims being younger than 16.

On Monday, police announced that 17-year veteran NYPD detective Robert Francis had been charged for four incidents dating back to February in Nassau County, Long Island.

His alleged victims all went to the same high school, Rockville Centre Police Department commissioner Charles Gennario said.

Francis is accused of taking a flashlight and creeping into the young women's backyards and driveways, shining the light to get the attention of his alleged victims inside, and then exposing himself and masturbating.

"He was targeting women," Gennario said.

The detective, who lives in the Springfield Gardens section of Queens worked at the 71st Precinct in Crown Heights, and has been suspended without pay. He could not be reached for comment.

Police said Francis was originally arrested Sunday morning at 2:30 in Rockville Centre, accused of committing a lewd act in public on Long Island. He was arrested just a few blocks away from the scene.

Investigators are still trying figure out when and where else he may have acted.
