“Prince Chunk” Lends a Paw

He's slimmed down, and giving back.

The famous stray, Prince Chunk, is on a mission to help pet owners stuck in a financial jam. The once 44-pound fat cat became the national face for abandoned animals about a year ago when he was found roaming the streets of New Jersey.

The teenage owner of the now svelte 18-pound cat is launching a progam called "The Prince Chunk Foundation," which will allow struggling pet owners to get emergency veterinary care and food vouchers for their animals.

People with a primary residence in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California are the only ones who can apply for help right now, but organizers hope to go nationwide with the program by 2012.
