A power outage left much of the city of Passaic in the dark Friday morning after an equipment failure at a local substation.

Power went out at 8 a.m. and was restored just before 9 a.m., PSE&G said.

Some Passaic public schools were affected by the outage, the district wrote on Facebook, but officials still planned to hold a regular school day. There were widespread reports of down traffic lights and emergency services as well.
