Man Shot to Death Near Playground in Paterson

One person has died in a shooting near a playground in northern New Jersey.

But it's not yet clear what spurred the shooting shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday in Paterson.

Passaic County prosecutors tell The Record investigators are focusing their probe on a car with New York license plates that had a yellow police tarp draped over the front windshield.

The name of the victim has not been disclosed. Authorities say no arrests have been made.

The slaying is Paterson's seventh homicide of the year, including four this month. There have been 27 shootings in 2015 that resulted in five deaths and at least 29 people wounded.
