It's not often a part of New York City that hasn't been open for nearly 30 years will be reopened to the public — and right in the heart of a beloved destination for tourists and locals alike.
An area in Brooklyn's Prospect Park is welcoming visitors back again starting Wednesday, according to officials. The Prospect Park Alliance announced the new woodland Fallkill Trail would be reopening to the public.
The group said the trail will provide a closer look at the Fallkill Waterfall as well as offer a the opportunity to "experience the beauty and serenity of Prospect Park's restored urban forest."
The area has been closed to visitors since 1995.
