A woman jogging in a Lower East Side park Thursday morning fought off a man who tried to sexually assault her, police said.
The woman was jogging in East River Park near Delancey Street at 11:47 a.m. when a man attacked her from behind, threw her to the ground and tried to remove her clothes, police said.
The attacker fled when the woman screamed, police said.
The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with minor injuries. No arrests have been made.
Women who frequent the park during the day were stunned to learn of the attack.
"I run during the day and I'm usually pretty alert," said Sandy Chen. "I try to pay attention."
