The mother and stepfather of an 8-year-old girl were arrested this week for allegedly beating and choking her at their home in the Bronx.
Authorities say that the girl told police she was beaten, choked and abused by her mother and stepfather at the Manor Avenue apartment.
The stepfather, 21-year-old Curtis Younger, choked her with both of his hands on Friday afternoon, the girl told police.
And on Saturday afternoon, the girl’s mother, 26-year-old Tyesha Younger, allegedly punched her in the throat.
The child also said that her mother and stepfather tossed cold water on her face to wake her up and at one point gave her a gun and bullets to play with as a toy, according to police. No gun was found at the home.
The girl’s 50-year-old grandmother called police and the parents were arrested Tuesday. Four other children were taken from the apartment and put in the custody of the Administration for Children's Services.
The girl was taken to another family member’s home and as the ACS continues to handle the situation, police said.

"We are deeply concerned about the allegations involved in this disturbing case. ACS, along with NYPD, is currently investigating," the ACS said in a statement.
Both parents face misdemeanor charges of acting in a manner injurious to a child. Curtis Younger also faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal obstruction of breathing. Both of them were released without bail.
