Police are looking for a man seen on surveillance video burning religious Hindu flags in the front yard of a home in Queens.
The man set fire to the flags around 1:15 a.m. Thursday after entering the front yard of a home near 89th Avenue and 80th Street in Woodhaven.
About 40 Hindu flags were torched, police said.
No one at the home was injured in the alleged arson.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Rajan Zed, the leader of the Nevada-based Universal Society of Hinduism, issued a statement in which he said that Hindus are "highly concerned" about the reported burning of the flags.He called on Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio to ensure the safety of the Hindu community in Queens.
