A recently renovated home on Long Island that once served as the "summer White House" for President Chester A. Arthur has been placed on the market for $14.2 million.

The Sag Harbor residence was renovated by renowned architect Steven Gambrel, who retained much of the historic detail of the six-bedroom Victorian, Newsday reported.

Gambrel kept the 1796 home's original fireplaces while adding modern amenities such as a new kitchen and bathrooms, a media room and a wine cellar in the finished basement.

The .34-acre property also features a swimming pool on the grounds.

Arthur used the home as a summer retreat while serving as the 21st president of the United States from 1881 to 1885.

The Corcoran Group is co-listing the property with Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
