A New Jersey man acquitted on homicide charges last year has been charged with fatally shooting a woman.

Authorities say 28-year-old Anthony Shuler of Jersey City shot a 26-year-old Diamond Robinson in the face shortly before 5 a.m. in Bayonne. NJ.com reports he was arrested about 90 minutes later.

It's not clear if Shuler has an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Shuler was acquitted last year in the 2010 shooting of Darren Edwards in Jersey City, with jurors taking just two hours and 20 minutes to reach a verdict. He spent eight years behind bars awaiting trial in that case.

After Shuler's acquittal, he praised God and said "it is he who allowed me to undergo my struggle without doubt."
