Former Met Darryl Hamilton Killed in Texas Murder-Suicide: Report

Former Mets’ outfielder Darryl Hamilton was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Texas, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Hamilton, 50, and 44-year-old Monica Jordan were both found dead inside a home in Pearland, the Chronicle reports.

Police say that Hamilton was found shot several times in the home’s front entryway, while Jordan was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound somewhere else in the house.

The pair had a 13-month-old son, who was found unharmed in the home, the Chronicle reports. The child was turned over to the state’s Child Protective Services.

Hamilton played for the Mets from 1999 to 2001 and was a member of the team that won the National League pennant in 2000.

He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies.

The MLB Network, where Hamilton worked as analyst, tweeted Monday afternoon, "We mourn the passing of our friend and colleague, Darryl Hamilton."
