New York City Airports Worst for Transit Access: Survey

New York City area airports are the worst when it comes to mass transit access, according to a new survey.

JFK tied with Denver for last place, and LaGuardia and Newark tied with Los Angeles for second place in the United States in the Global Gateway Alliance survey.

The survey credits the 47-minute ride from Penn Station to JFK, which includes at least one transfer from the LIRR to the AirTrain, for the last place ranking, according to the New York Post.

The top five airports on the list were all located outside the United States, with Madrid-Barajas in first place.

Last month, Gov. Cuomo unveiled plans to build an elevated AirTrain that would link LaGuardia to the Willets Point station in Queens. The project would take five years complete, but a start date for construction has not yet been set.
