Authorities say a man has died after being hit by a New Jersey Transit train in Bergen County.
The agency says the accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday in Carlstadt, just west of the train station in Rutherford. But it's not clear why the man was on the tracks, and further details about the incident have not been disclosed.
None of the 36 passengers and crew aboard the Bergen County Line train were injured in the accident. But service on the line was suspended in both directions between Fair Lawn and Secaucus while the investigation was ongoing.
The train had departed from Hoboken and was bound for Suffern, New York when hit the accident occurred.
The man's name has not been released.
It's the second time in two days a NJ Transit train has fatally hit someone. On Monday, a train hit a man near Convent Station in Morris Township.
