Mister Softee Takes on Manhattan

Ah, the sounds of spring. Birds chirping, children playing...

...AND THAT INFERNAL ICE CREAM TRUCK!

Some upper Manhattan residents are complaining that their nerves are jangled from the constant jingle.

They say an ice cream truck has blared its music _ for hours at a time _ while parked in the same spot. They've even heard it at 10 p.m. on a weeknight. They can hear it with the windows shut and the TV on.

Police told a community meeting this week they're looking into the problem.

City officials said 205 complaints have been lodged this year against ice cream trucks in the Community Board 12 neighborhood, which includes Inwood.

New York City noise code bans the playing of jingles while a food vending vehicle is stationary.
