Authorities have found the body of a man who went missing after he stepped off a boat for a swim in a New Jersey lake while celebrating his birthday over the weekend.

State police say Avinash Kuna's body was pulled from Henderson Cove in Lake Hopatcong around 6:10 p.m. Monday.

The 32-year-old Parsippany man was last seen on Saturday morning when he entered the water from a pontoon boat and submerged without resurfacing.

Authorities have said Kuna was celebrating his birthday with friends on the rented boat. His friends have said that when Kuna stepped off the boat, he screamed that something was trying to grab him, and they believe he got caught in some weeds and other debris.

A cause of death has not been determined.
